JAMES ROD

James Rod is the alias of Spanish DJ and producer Jaime Rodríguez Navarro, a mainstay of the modern disco underground with a glimpse of cosmic textures and emotionally charged progressions. Hailing from Extremadura (Spain), but now exiled in Berlin, his productions weave together the DNA of Italo, House, and future-disco into a timeless and forward-leaning craftsmanship — a sound soaked in sunlight, sweat, and warm synths.

Since the mid-2000s, James has quietly carved out a reputation as a trusted name across dancefloors and digital crates alike. Named one of the top 50 Nu-Disco artists of 2017 alongside Andrew Weatherall, Todd Terje, and Rayko, he has kept the momentum through a stream of sought-after releases and remixes that speak to his deep roots and restless curiosity.

As head of Golden Soul Records, James has fostered a vibrant roster of leftfield disco, showcasing artists from across the globe. But it’s his own rich, melodic, and addictive output that continues to resonate, with standout EPs and remixes for labels like Bordello A Parigi, Discolypso, Love Attack, Logical Records, among others.

In 2025, James Rod joined Madd Rod’s Inner Shah Recordings with Warmer Körper EP, an Indie Dance homage to Body Music that channels his signature blend of sleaze, shimmer, and slow-burning tension. It’s a fitting chapter in the ever-evolving catalogue of a producer plugged to the commands of the dancefloor.
